How to cancel or reschedule your NCT online

  1. Find your registration and Booking ID

    Have your vehicle registration and Booking ID ready. You can also use the date of first registration from your Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC or logbook).

  2. Choose rearrange or cancel

    Enter your details in the booking manager at ncts.ie. Choose Rearrange Booking to move to a suitable date, or Cancel Booking to remove the appointment completely.

  3. Check the fee and save confirmation

    Review any charge before confirming. If you are rearranging, check the new date and centre. Keep the cancellation or revised booking email and any refund receipt.

The five-working-day cancellation rule

Allow more than five working days’ notice to avoid a late change or cancellation fee. Count Monday to Friday, excluding the day of your test. If you are close to the deadline or a bank holiday, check the charge before confirming.

If you have already paid

Cancel with more than five working days’ notice for a full refund of your prepaid test fee.

For a late prepaid cancellation, the published balance refunded is €36 from a €60 full test, or €24 from a €40 re-test. Your cancellation email includes the charge and refund amount.

Cancellation and refund questions

The notice rule is five working days, excluding the test day. Allow more than five working days to avoid the late fee. Working days are Monday to Friday; weekends do not count. If you are near the deadline or a bank holiday, check the charge shown before confirming.
A late cancellation, change or missed appointment costs €24 for a full test or €16 for a paid re-test. If you prepaid, that leaves a refund of €36 from a €60 full test, or €24 from a €40 re-test.
Keep your confirmed appointment while you look. NCT Bot can monitor public cancellation slots at your chosen centres and send WhatsApp alerts. When a suitable date appears, you rearrange the booking yourself and check any late change fee before confirming. An alert does not reserve a slot.

A prepaid cancellation with more than five working days’ notice is refunded in full. With late notice, the cancellation fee is deducted and the balance refunded. Your confirmation email includes the charge and refund amount; contact the booking team if you need to check when it will arrive.
The NCTS Customer Charter says that if NCTS cancels a prearranged booking without giving five working days’ notice, a replacement test appointment will be provided free of charge. Contact NCTS about your replacement appointment.
